Traffic Police Tops One Million Mark in Poland

    WARSAW: Wojciech Smarzowski’s drama Traffic Police is the first domestic film of 2013 to reach one million admissions in Poland.

    The distributor of Traffic Police Next Film told FNE that the film has seen by 1,000,875 viewers. It is also the best local opening of the year with first weekend admissions of 176,732 and held the number one spot at the box office for four consecutive weeks in February, the 2013 record to date.

    The film was shot early in 2012, produced by Film It in coproduction with Agorą SA, Telekomunikacja Polską SA and Canal+ with the support of the Polish Film InstituteTraffic Police follows seven days in the lives of Polish police officers. The lead is played by Bartłomiej Topa and the cast includes Marcin Dorociński, Arkadiusz Jakubik, Eryk Lubos, Agata Kulesza, Julia Kijowska, Marian Dziędziel, Iza Kuna, Robert Wabich and Jacek Braciak.

    Three other Polish productions have surpassed the 100,000 viewers mark on their opening weekends in 2013: Bejbi Blues (129,734), The Vulture (109,431) and The Closed Circuit (100,946).
