WARSAW: Internationally acclaimed Polish artist Zbigniew Libera is in production with his directing debut, an experimental science-fiction feature titled Walser starring Krzysztof Stroiński (Fear of Falling) and Adam Sikora (Essential Killing, The Mill and the Cross) as the film’s cinematographer. Libera co-wrote the script with Grzegorz Jankowicz.

Walser is produced by Agata Szymańska and Magdalena Kamińska, Filmpolis (www.filmpolis.eu) The film is financially supported by the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl) , Studio Produkcyjne Orka (www.orkafilm.pl), Film District and backed by the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (www.artmuseum.pl). The budget is 250,000 EUR.

The film is set in a futuristic world where only a few individuals have developed the maximum biological and intellectual level of evolution. They are able to adapt to any kind of new surroundings and are the last chance for the civilization that for fifty years on has been growing old because women have lost their ability to give birth.

Libera’s works – including drawings, photographs, video films, art installations and objects –play with postmodern culture and stereotypes. His videos from the 1980’s were a precursor of Body Art Wave.

The estimated shooting time of 20 days is taking place on locations in Slovenia.
