False Witness chronicles some of the most important trials of the International Court of Justice portraying the great religious, political, and ideological confrontations in modern history. The script explores the intimate and complex stories of individuals involved.

“The cast and crew, which was gathered from eight different countries (and an even greater number of nationalities!) is simply fantastic and the atmosphere on set and in the evenings after the shooting has been magical” lead producer Rossitsa Valkanova said. “Apparently, the strong and beautifully written script and the talented directing of Iglika Triffonova has affected not only the creative team and me as producer. Iglika has this great ability to touch your soul without being sentimental.”

False Witness is coproduced by five countries (Bulgaria, Sweden, Netherlands, Germany and Macedonia) and financed by the Bulgarian National Film Center, Bulgarian National Television, the Swedish Film Institute, Film i Skäne, SVT and the Dutch Film Fund. The film is produced by KLAS Film.

“The budget of False Witness is still under construction,” Valkanova said, adding that they are aiming at a budget of approximately 1.9 million EUR.

The international film premiere is planned for 2015.
