TVP Racks up International Sales for over 20 productions abroad

    WARSAW: Polish public broadcaster TVP is celebrating a sales streak that saw some 20 productions sold to seven countries.

    TVP told FNE that in the last three months the broadcaster's Sales Office has made several lucrative contracts concerning content originally produced in Poland. The biggest success was noted in Germany and German-speaking territories of Europe where TVP sold four documentaries produced or coproduced by the broadcaster: Entangled (TVP, Telemark) directed by Lidia Duda; Argentinian Lesson directed by Wojciech Staroń (Staron Film, TVP); Uciekinier (Zoyda Art Production, TVP) directed by Marek Tomasz Pawłowski and Lech Majewski; and The World According to Bruegel (TVP) directed by Dagmara Drzazga.

    German audiences will also have a chance to see five new Polish feature films: Scratch (Filmcontract Ltd., WFDiF, TVP - Film Agency) directed by Michał Rosa, Splinters (Akson Studio) directed by Maciej Pieprzyca; 80 Million (MediaBrigade) directed by Waldemar Krzystek; Shameless (Akson Studio) directed by Filip Marczewski; and Last Floor (Sowa Film, FDR Studio, TVP) directed by Tadeusz Król.

    German territories also bought two animated series: Polish Fairy Tales (TV Animated Films Studio) and The Eye Cloud Odyssey (TVP - Film Agency). Two drama shows, the crime series Paradox (Opus TV, TVP) and a Prix Italia winning drama series Deep Water (MediaBrigade) were also sold to Germany.

    The history drama series Time of Honor (2008-2013, Akson Studio, TVP) was sold to Montenegro and Scotland while House by the Blackwater (2009, Agencja Telewizyjna ZOOM, TVP), a drama series based on a hit series of novels, and a war series The Officers (2006, Akson Studio, TVP-Film Agency) were sold to Russia.

    Classic films from Krzysztof Kieślowski's Decalogue where bought for broadcast in the USA and Turkey. The Slovak public broadcaster purchased a trio of Andrzej Wajda films including The Birch Wood (1970, TOR Film Studio), Holy Week (1995 Heritage Films) and Sweet Rush (2009, Akson Studio). Chinese distributors showed great interest in Polish productions for children and bought the cartoon hit series Ferdinand The Great (1975-77, Se-Ma-For), O dwóch takich co ukradli księżyc (1984-89, Studio Miniatur Filmowych) and Fox Leon (1981-93, TVP).
