PRODUCTION: Alvernia Studios Preps Dark Comedy DISCOPOLO

    WARSAW: Alvernia Studios will produce DISCOPOLO, a dark comedy about a social phenonenon of disco polo music starring Joanna Kulig and Dawid Ogrodnik.

    The producer informed FNE that the shoot will launch on 5 August 2014 and is planned to end in the first half of September. The crew will visit Bydgoszcz, Łeba and Warsaw and the Masovia region.

    The script is co-written by the director Maciej Bochniak and popular Polish musician Mateusz Kościukiewicz. The film will explore the rise and immense popularity of disco polo music in a dynamic, Tarantino-like narrative filled with music and pop culture references. The film is the feature film debut for Bochniak, a Lodz Film School graduate who started out as a sound engineer and DOP for documentary projects.

    The cast of DISCOPOLO includes some of the most talented young Polish actors, with award winning Joanna Kulig (Elles), Dawid Ogrodnik (You Are God) and Paweł Głowacki
    (Girl From The Wardrobe) in the leads.

    Alvernia Studios, a company that specializes in international coproductions, is producing this domestic film themselves. The premiere of the is planned for the first half of 2015.
