FESTIVALS: New Horizons 2014 International Competition

    Three Polish films and one Estonian coproduction are among the 13 films vying in the international competition of the 14th T-Mobile New Horizons Film Festival, running 24 July to 3 August in Wroclaw.

    The festival will screen 365 films including 199 full-length films, opening with Cannes Palme d’Or winner Winter Sleep by Nuri Bilge Ceylan.

    Specials include a tribute to Ken Russell, a section on New Greek Cinema, rarely seen French cinema of the 70’s and 80’s, and a selection of Basque documentaries. Austrian Film Commission Executive Director Martin Schweighofer will serve on the international jury. The sixth edition of the festival’s discussion forum Film Language will be devoted to the topic of special effects in film.
