FNE at Baltic Event: Estonian/Polish/Dutch Rehepapp in Production

    TALLINN: A dark fantasy feature from  Rainer Sarnet was showcased at Baltic Event Works in Progress hosted at the POFF Black Nights Film Festival in Tallinn. The premiere is set for May 2016.

    Rehepapp is a feature film, written and directed by Rainer Sarnet, based on the Estonian best-selling novel “Rehepapp” by Andrus Kivirähk. "It is a fairytale for adults, a love story set in a world where werevolves, ghosts and the plague are a reality" producer Katrin Kissa told FNE. The film is a major costume project with a daring visual style. "There are many fantastic characters and we decided not to use computer animation to create them, instead we are using real life intricate costumes and live action" Kissa adds. The cast includes Rea Lest, Jörgen Liik, Dieter Laser, Arvo Kukumägi and Heino Kirst o.a.

    The film is a co-production between Homeless Bob Production (Estonia), PRPL (Netherlands) and Opus Film (Poland). The film was shot on location in Tallinn and is currently nearing postproduction. The budget is 1 450 000 EUR and the
    film recieived support from MEDIA, Estonian Film Foundation, Estonian Cultural Endowment, The
    Netherlands Film Fund, Polish Film Institute, Netherlands Film Production Incentive and Eurimages.

    The premiere of the film is planned for May 2016.
