WARSAW: Polish public broadcaster TVP and BBC Worldwide have signed an intention letter furthering their trade co-operation, which includes coproducing new series and films.

The intention letter entails that TVP and BBC Worldwide will exchange and buy programmes offered in the catalogues of both broadcasters and will engage in more coproductions of TV series and documentaries with a strong focus on shows depicting Polish culture and Polish characters. TVP has also expressed an interest in adapting some of the BBC Worldwide formats for the Polish market. The broadcaster has not announced which formats will be chosen.

"BBC Worldwide is a serious and verified partner of TVP. This agreement will allow us to co-operate in creating our programme and distribution offer as well as broaden our co-operation in training, market know-how and audience research. I think that both the public television employees and its viewers will profit from it," said TVP President Jacek Kurski in an official statement.
