The 7th edition of Polish Days took place from 27 to 29 June 2016 at the 16th T-Mobile New Horizons IFF. "Over the years several international guests asked us what’s new and up-coming here in Poland. We decided to create an event that will become a showcase both for the Polish industry and our guests”, Joanna Łapińska, Artistic Director of T-Mobile New Horizons Film Festival, told FNE.
The selection of completed films presented during the 7th edition of Polish Days focused mainly on drama and documentaries.

Kinves Out (Poland)
The new drama shot in black and white by the accomplished Polish experimental filmmaker Przemysław Wojcieszek follows a group of high-school friends, who have a reunion in a summer house by the lake. An outsider from Ukraine stirs up unresolved issues and hidden feelings within the group.
The film is produced by Agata Walkosz of CHŁOPIEC PTAK I ANIOŁ PRODUCTION with a budget of 20,000 EUR. The premiere is planned for 2017.

Photon (Poland)
The debut feature by the artist and filmmaker Norman Leto is inspired by David Deutsch’s bestseller Beginning of Infinity and shows what we know about the creation of matter. The film produced by Daniel Markowicz of Lightcraft with a budget of 1.6 m EUR is a mix of documentary images, fiction and special effects. The premiere is planned for 2017.

The Last Family (Poland)
Jan P. Matuszyński’a debut feature follows 28 years in the life of the painter Zdzisław Beksiński, considered to be one of the most prominent contemporary Polish artists, and his son Tomasz, a highly praised Polish music journalist and translator. Both passed away.
The film was produced by Leszek Bodzak and Aneta Hickinbotham through Aurum Film in coproduction with HBO Polska and Lightcraft, with a planned budget of 1.4 m EUR. The film received a production grant of 688,756 EUR / 3 m PLN from the Polish Film Institute, and also a coproduction input of 70,597 EUR / 307,500 PLN from the Mazovia Film Fund. The film will premiere internationally in the main competition of the 2016 Locarno IFF. Kino Świat will release it domestically on 30 September 2016.

Anna Zamecka’s long documentary debut follows 14-year-old Ola, who takes care of her dysfunctional father, autistic brother and her mother, who lives separately. She lives in the hope of bringing her mother back home. The film was produced by Otter Films in coproduction with Wajda Studio and HBO Europe and will premiere internationally at the Locarno IFF 2016.

The Erlprince (Poland)
Second feature by Kuba Czekaj follows an exceptionally gifted 14-year-old boy, who has just started studying physics at the university. He is working on the theory of parallel worlds, which he initially believes to be linked by light. He has an extraordinary mind, but a wounded soul that his authoritarian mother is incapable of healing.
The film was produced by Ewa Jastrzębska of Munk Studio – Polish Filmmakers Associations in coproduction with TVP, Odra Film and ORKA Production Studio and with the support of the Polish Film Institute and the Wroclaw Film Commission.

Waves (Poland)
Grzegorz Zariczny’s debu feature follows Ania and Kasia, two teenagers training with a hairstylist in a small hair salon in the Kraków suburb of Nowa Huta. The deserted prefab housing complex where the hair salon located bears witness to seemingly mundane yet fundamental moments that occur between a carefree childhood and compromises of being an adult.
The film was produced by Munk Studio – Polish Filmmakers Association in coproduction with TVP and Krakow Festival Office, and with the support of the Polish Film Institute and the Krakow Regional Film Fund. The film premiered internationally in the main competition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
