The High Frontier / Na granicy follows a father who takes his two boys to a secluded mountain base, but their attempt at a male bonding adventure is interrupted by a mysterious stranger showing up wounded and exhausted on their doorstep. The plot thickens and the teenage boys face a true test of maturity.
"I wanted to make a genre film and to tell a story about growing up by creating a suspenseful thriller" the writer/director said.
The film was produced by Marcin Wierzchosławski through Metro Films in coproduction with TVP, Alvernia Studios, Non Stop Film Service and Dreamsound. The budget was 812,160 EUR / 3.5 m PLN, of which 464,091 EUR / 2 m PLN was a production grant from the Polish Film Institute.
The film premiered in the International Competition at the Netia Off Camera International Film Festival in Krakow and was released domestically by Kino Świat on 19 February 2016, reaching 89,827 admissions to date.
