GRANTS: Poland Announces Minority Coproduction Grants

    WARSAW: Five projects received 1.7 m EUR / 7.6 m PLN in the last session of the minority international coproductions fund created by the Polish Film Institute in 2016.

    The projects are: Frost by Sharunas Bartas, When the Trees Fall by Maria Nikitiuk, Garden Store: Family Friend by Jan Hrebejk, Forgive Our Sins by Antonio Morabito and The Harvesters by Etienne Kallos.

    In the course of 2016, three financing sessions took place and 44 international coproductions with minority Polish coproducers applied for funding. Fifteen feature films (including three debut features) received a total of 1.7 m EUR / 7.6 m PLN.

    “These 15 chosen projects include 22 countries in coproduction," says Magdalena Sroka, the Director of the Polish Film Institute.

    Minority coproduction fund was launched at the beginning of 2016, with a committee headed by Andrzej Jakimowski, accompanied by Jan Naszewski and Jakub Duszyński.
