Hatred and Last Family Win Golden Tapes

    WARSAW: Hatred by Wojciech Smarzowski and Last Family by Jan P. Matuszyński won the Golden Tapes awards for best domestic films screened in Polish cinemas in 2016. Paterson was chosen best foreign film distributed in Poland last year. Golden Tapes are awarded by the Polish section of FIPRESCI, a member of the Polish Filmmakers Association.

    Hatred was released by Forum Film Polska and had 1.4 m admissions to date. Last Family was released by Kino Świat in Polish cinemas on 30 September 2016 and had 504,193 admissions to date.

    Paterson by Jim Jarmusch was distributed in Poland by Gutek Film.

    The Polish section of FIPRESCI also gave out two honorable mentions to two Polish films: You Have No Idea How Much I Love You by Paweł Łoziński and Communion by Anna Zamęcka, and also to two foreign films – Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Son Of Saul by László Nemes and Anomalisa by Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson.

    The winners of Golden Tapes, the annual awards given by the film critics of the Polish Filmmakers Association since 1985, were announced on 5 January 2017.
