GRANTS: Polish Film Institute Gives Two Grants for Children’s Productions

    WARSAW: The Polish Film Institute supported two productions created for family audiences with over 4 m PLN / 1 m EUR in the first funding session of 2017.

    A major production grant of 3.5 m PLN / 823,827 EUR went to Wooma, a live action feature with animated elements, based on a comic book by Karol Kalinowski and directed by Paweł Borowski, an accomplished Polish filmmaker most recognised for his award winning drama Zero (Opus Film). The film is produced by Lava Films with a planned budget of 4.5 m EUR. The project already received 120,000 PLN of development financing from the Polish Film Institiute in 2016. Currently Lava Films is co-producing the project with VFX studio Platige Image, responsible for the animation sequences and concept art.

    The second grant of 140,000 PLN / 32,952 EUR will fund the development of the animated film Squeek directed by Marcin Wasilewski and Łukasz Kasprowicz, produced by GS Animation.
