FESTIVALS: Last Family wins Netia Off Camera Grand Prix

    CRACOW: Last Family by Jan Matuszyński won the Gand Prix Krakow Film Award and Audience Award at the 10th Netia Off Camera Film Festival held in Cracow 28 April - 7 May 2017.

    The International "Making Way" Competition Jury headed by Agnieszka Holland awarded the box office hit drama from Jan Matuszyński with the Krakow Film Award in the International Competition "Making Way" and 100,000 USD in cash prizes as well as a grant of 1 m PLN / 237,400 EUR from the Polish Film Institute, if the director decides to shoot his next film in Poland. The drama also received the Audience Award. Agnieszka Holland was awarded with an honorary Against the Current Award, given to filmmakers who have had a special impact on the development of independent cinema.

    Volhynia by Wojciech Smarzowski won the Kulczyk Foundation Award and 300,000 PLN / 71,230 EUR, while Magdalena Berus and Arkadiusz Jakubik won the Best Actress and Actor Awards, 10,000 PLN / 2,375 EUR each, funded by Apart and Gino Rossi.

    The FIPRESCI Jury Award went to a drama from Thailand entitled POP AYE, directed by Kristen Tan. The Polish Audiovisual Producers Chamber of Commerce (KIPA) awarded the best production debuts of the year, with Radosław Drabik and Michał Chaciński winning First Prize and 11,000 PLN / 2,610 EUR for production of the box office hit comedy Planet Single, Second Prize and 8,000 PLN / 1,900 EUR for Marta Golba and Michał Marczak for production of All These Sleepless Nights and Third Prize and 6,000 PLN / 1,425 EUR for best documentary production debut to Anna Zamecka and Zuzanna Król for production of Communion.
