WARSAW: Polish private broadcaster AXN has commissioned the first season of Ultraviolet, a scripted crime series directed by Jan Komasa and Sławomir Fabicki. Opus Film is producing.

The central character is Ola Serafin, a young woman who is forced to move back to Łódź from London and becomes a witness to a tragic accident. When the police deem the mysterious death a suicide, Ola is determined to uncover the truth and joins "Ultraviolet", an amateur detective group working on cases too difficult for the authorities.

The show is written by Igor Brejdygant, Agnieszka Pilaszewska, Błażej Dzikowski, Filip Kasperaszek and Paulina Murawska. The all-star cast of Polish actors includes Marta Nieradkiewicz in the lead, accompanied by Sebastian Fabijański, Bartłomiej Topa, Agata Kulesza, Marek Kalita, Michał Żurawski and Magdalena Czerwińska.

This is the first local commission for AXN that is based on an original script, but the channel has produced several Polish series and programmes in the past, including the series Crime based on a Swedish format, directed by Greg Zgliński and Sławomir Fabicki, and also produced by Opus Film. In April 2017 AXN held 0.47% of the Polish TV market share in the commercial group 16-49.

Ultraviolet will premiere on AXN in the fall of 2017.
