The film follows Catalina, who comes from Colombia to study law in France, but who is been denied the right to continue her stay. Following the advice of one of her professors, she goes to Sarajevo to get access to the materials of the International Criminal Court of Justice for the former Yugoslavia, so as to use them for a paper that would enable her to stay in France. She does not receive permission for the archive, but the interpreter, Nada, persuades her to stay in Sarajevo. A friendship will bloom between the two women.
"It is a story of people from ‘different types of periphery’ or like Imre Kertesz said about ‘the people without tribe’. Deprived of the basic right to decide about their fate, they live lives which do not belong to them. At the same time the key phrases that define them are: totalitarian system, war and eradication”, said the director.
The international cast of actors includes Amra Bakšić Čamo, Adis Đapo, Irena Marković, Denijal Hasanović, Jacek Kulczycki, Magdalena Zimecka, Michał Żarnecki, Joanna Napieralska and Stanisław Tyczyński.
The film was produced by Skorpion Arte in coproduction with SCCA/pro.ba, Focus Media, Telewizja Polska, Studio Produkcyjne Orka, Sound Domain, Pałac Zielona i Tawerna Portowa and Alvernia Studios. The film received production financing from the Polish Film Institute, Eurimages, the Croatian Audiovisual Centre and Fondacija Za Kinematografiju Sarajevo. The budget is 1.1 m EUR.
The film was shot on location in Sarajevo in September-November 2014.
