WARSAW: Polish director Viktoria Marinov is in preparation with Love Land, a long documentary about people who decide to emigrate to Bulgaria out of love. The producers are looking for Bulgarian coproducers.

"It is a peculiar kind of emigration – emotional, sometimes against the common sense. Those people followed their hearts and their decisions are hard to explain in rational terms. When gathering information, I met many couples who yielded to the Balkan temptation. I realised that the phenomenon is much more complex and widespread than I thought", Viktoria Marinov said in a statement.

The film is produced by the Łódź-based company Entertain Pictures in partnership with the Polish Institute in Sofia. Representatives of Entertain Pictures told FNE that a Bulgarian coproducer is interested, but they are not looking for partners only in Bulgaria, since the subject is very universal. The budget is approximately 140,000 EUR, they also told FNE.

    Shooting is set for 2018.

Born in Łódź, Poland, Viktoria Marinov has Bulgarian origins. She graduated in film directing and cinematography at the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia in 2005. She made her first documentary in 2000.
