LUBLIN: The Polish public broadcaster TVP is currently shooting a costume drama series Roads to Freedom directed by Maciej Migas. The 13-episode series follows the lives of three sisters, who open a weekly magazine towards the end of World War I.

The launch of the paper takes place on 11 November 1918, when Poland regains its sovereignity. Paulina Gałązka, Katarzyna Zawarzka and Julia Rosnowska play the three sisters.

"It promises to be an interesting story with multi-dimensional characters. For me the female plot is especially significant for the courage of the protagonists and their need for self-determination. The series is also very important to me because the script was partly inspired by the diaries of my grandmother and many characters in the show were inspired by my ancestors", actress Julia Rosnowska told FNE.

The series is created by Stanisław Krzemiński, co-creator of the TVP hit series The Vicarage and The Londoners. The budget has not been disclosed. The City of Lublin is supporting, as it supports film and television productions with a budget of 95,476 EUR / 400,000 PLN yearly. This is the second drama series shot in Lublin in 2018, after the untitled series directed by Agnieszka Holland and Kasia Adamik for Netflix.

Shooting for Roads to Freedom started in Lublin on 24 January 2018. The crew will move to Warsaw and Poznań after 16 February 2018. The series is set to premiere on TVP 1 in November 2018.
