WARSAW: The first season of the costume drama series Century of the Guilty, commissioned by the Polish public broadcaster TVP, is currently in production. It is one of the most expensive TVP projects.
Century of the Guilty / Stulecie winnych is based on the bestselling series of novels written by Ałbena Grabowska and follows a Polish family living near Warsaw from the break of WWI to contemporary times. The series is directed by Piotr Trzaskalski, who is popular for his award winning drama My Father's Bike (produced by Federico Film)).
Leading Polish series screenwriter Ilona Łepkowska is heading the writing team. The cast inludes popular actors: Kinga Preis, Jan Wieczorkowski, Katarzyna Kwiatkowska, Arkadiusz Janiczek, Olaf Lubaszenko, Rafał Królikowski, Adam Ferency and Roman Gancarczyk. Poland‘s Endemol Shine is the executive producer with a planned budget of 230,152 EUR /1 m PLN per episode.
The shoot started in the Mazovia region in May 2018 and will wrap in August 2018. The date of the premiere has not been announced yet. TVP had a 20% increase in overall income in 2017. It received a loan of 184 m EUR / 800 m PLN from the government, but due to its good results it used only 80 m EUR / 350 m PLN of it and for now it isn't planning on using it for its upcoming projects.
