By

WARSAW: The Croatian live action family adventure film Bumblebee’s Flight was pitched at the Warsaw Kids Film Forum, which concluded on 27 September 2019. The project was presented by producer Maja Vukic and writer Marko Hrenovic.

The main character is a boy nicknamed Bumblebee (his father is known as Hornet) and the story follows a group of 10-year-olds spending what starts out as a dull summer on a Croatian island. When they discover an abandoned small African boy in a lighthouse, their imaginations go into overdrive. Thinking he’s an alien, they build a device to teleport him back to his home. The primary target audience is families and children 7 – 14 years old.

The film is in development, with funding from the Croatian Audiovisual Centre. The budget is just over 1 m EUR. Antonio Nuic will direct. Interfilm is producing and the company is seeking funders, coproducers and distribution.

The Warsaw Kids Film Forum was sponsored by FNE and CEI (Central European Initiative). For the full list of all sponsors go to Warsaw Kids Film Forum.
