Polish new year kicks off with budget busting comedy

By Katarzyna Grynienko
The Konecki & Saramonowicz duet is once again taking a comedy spin on the relations between the sexes.
Based on the success of the pair's two previous projects, Poland's newest box office hit could be hitting cinemas at the begining of the year.

The authors of Testosterone and the 2008 box office hit Ladies answer the burning question: can a liberal and tough feminist with a passion for celebrities fall for a delicate and sensitive church music composer.

The Perfect Guy For My Girlfriend is produced by Van Worden (www.vanworden.pl), a company established by the filmmakers. The shoot took place in Warsaw, Cracow and Częstochowa between August and October, and features an all-star cast. It opens in Polish cinemas on January 30, 2009, distributed by ITI Cinema (www.iticinema.com.pl).

The picture's budget is PLN 6.9 million (€1.7 million). "We haven't made such an expensive movie before. Most of the cost is the result of the 45 shooting day schedule, 10 days more then Ladies had. No Polish comedy since 1989 had such a long shooting period," scriptwriter/producer Andrzej Saramonowicz said.
