Polish TV ad revenues strong in 2009

    Ad revenues for Polish broadcasters held strong in January, but TVN's digital TV channel 'n' posted losses for 2008 due primarily to fluctuating currency exchage rates.

    TVN, which trades on the Warsaw stock exchange, saw a drop of almost 20% since the beginning of of 2009, and estimated losses of PLN 95 million (€21 million) in 2008. TVN owns a 25% stake in 'n'.

    Ad revenues for TVN, however, rose in January by 6%, to €28 million. Other stations posting strong advertising gains include TVP1 and TVP2, with €21 million and €14 million each,
