Esterhazy locks up German distribution

By FNE Staff
At least one of the Polish short films presented at Cannes has been guaranteed a theatrical afterlife: Esterhazy, from director Izabela Plucinska.

Commissioned by the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl) and co-produced by Polish TV (www.tvp.pl), the 25-minute animated film received support from Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg (www.medienboard.de), BKM (www.deutsche-kultur-international.de), and the MEDIA programme (ec.europa.eu), and is a co-production with German animation company Clay Traces. Following its Cannes presentation, at the Short Film Corner, Esterhazy receives an international premeire June 20, in competition at the Edinburgh Film Festival, and premieres in Poland at the Warsaw Film Festival (www.wff.pl). A DEFA Spektrum (www.defa-spektrum.de) release is planned in selected cinemas in Germany.

Esterhazy was produced by Maria Blicharska of Donten & Lacroix (www.dontenlacroix.eu), who attends Cannes with producing associate Monika Sajko-Gradowska, bringing two co-production projects for participation in the Cannes Producers Network.
