Controversial ruling over TVP head

By FNE Staff
Poland's National Court Register issued a ruling that the suspension of TVP acting president Piotr Farfal was illegal and he remains in his position.

Farfal, who has ties to a far-right political party, had been suspended by the TVP (www.tvp.pl) board of directors. The ruling determined that because the Treasury Minister had closed down the station's General Assembly, the board had no right to take action.

However, the Treasury Minister has appointed an administrator to look into financial irregularities that occured under Farfal's management. An audit showed illegal dispersement of TVP funds, which will have to be returned to the government.
