Production: New Polish thriller shooting in Warsaw

    Marcin Wrona is filming Babtism, his second feature film based on a story from the Polish criminal world.

    Baptism is based on the true story of a young man from the Polish provinces, who tries to leave a criminal episode of his life behind him and start over in the city. The main character Michal has a mafia sentence upon him, but tries to lead a family life and organizes a baptism for his new child. The godfather is a friend who is still infatuated with the criminal lifestyle.

    Wrona debuted in 2009 with the feature My Blood, about a dying boxer who tries to give his life meaning by having a baby. The movie was recognized nationally at this years Youth and Film Debut Festival in Koszalin with prizes for Best Script, Best Sound and the Journalist's Award.

    Baptism is produced by the ODEON Film Studio with a budget of PLN 2 million ( €514,000), half of it financed by the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl). ODEON told FNE that shooting had started on July 20 and will end on August 17, 2009. Babtism is being shoot in Warsaw and neighboring areas.
