Janosik sees strong opening in Poland

    Janosik. A True Story, the year's biggest CEE production, opened in Poland September 4, attracting over 35,000 viewers on opening weekend.

    Syrena Filmm (www.syrenafilms.com) is distributing the film in Poland. Janosik. A True Story, a Polish/Slovak/Czech/Hungarian co-productiion directed by Agnieszka Holland and Kasia Adamik, had its international premiere on August 26. The film has received positive reviews praising the director's original approach to the legendary Slav character and the overall outstanding quality of the production with a special focus on the cinematography of Martin Štrba.

    The film also had its Slovak premiere on September 4.The Czech premiere is September 9, with cinema distribution beginning September 10.

    Janosik.A True Story is distributed on 100 copies in Poland, 17 in Slovakia and 38 in the Czech Republic. The distribution in all the 3 countries is supervised by Apple Film (www.applefilm.pl). The Hungarian premier will be announced at a later date.
