{mosimage}The Winner is the story of a talented young pianist, an American of Polish descent, who breaks his European tour contract and falls into debt. In his endeavors to get the money he befriends a colorful retired professor of mathematics, who introduces the pianist to the world of horse racing. Together they try to score the Big Win - a source of success and freedom for both. The world of racing brings a new romance to the pianist, still struggling after a broken marriage.

The lead role is played by Paweł Szajda, with venerated Polish actors Janusz Gajos as the professor. The cast includes Wojciech Pszoniak, Grażyna Barszczewska, Marta Żmuda-Trzebiatowska, Wenanty Nosul, and Peter Lucas.

Shooting started on April 16, 2010, in Warsaw. Further filming will take place on location in Poland, Germany and the USA, concluding by the end of September 2010.

The executive producer of the Polish-American co-production is Polish company Saco Films Ltd founded by the Saniewski. The film is co-produced by The Society For Arts (USA), Andrzej Niżnik (Switzerland), and Polish producers and insitutions Odra Film(www.odra-film.wroc.pl) Archi-Projekt, Toya Studios (www.toyastudios.pl), Divizion (www.divizion.pl), WFDiF (www.wfdif.com.pl), Equus Polska (www.equus.cz), BBF Investments. The total budget of the film is 13 million PLN (EUR 3.2 million) with 3 million PLN in financing from the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl).

Post production will last till November 2010, and the premiere is planned for late 2010/early 2011. The producers are currently choosing a distributor. Marketing is handled by i.FILM.
