Berlin based m-appeal has picked up the critically acclaimed Polish drama The Christening.

Marcin Wrona's The Christening was just entered into this year's line up for m-appeal (www.m-appeal.com), an international sales company. The drama revolves around the life of a criminal who betrays his accomplices and moves to Warsaw, where he starts a new business and a family. He invites his brother to the christening of his child in order to persuade him to fill in as father and husband when revenge comes.

The Christening was produced in 2009 by Poland's ODEON Film Studio (www.odeon.com.pl). The budget is PLN 2 million (€510,000), half of it financed by the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl). The Christening is co-produced by Wrona, No Problem - Krzysztof Krawczyk (www.noproblem.com.pl) and the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Directing (www.wajdaschool.pl). The movie was highly praised by Polish critics and received seven awards at the 2010 Polish Film Festival in Gdynia (www.pl.fpff.pl), including the Silver Lions Prize for the director Marcin Wrona. M-appeal plans to premiere the picture internationally at the Toronto IFF (www.tiff.net), where it will have four screenings from Sept. 14 to 19.
