The film opened in Polish cinemas on 8 October 2010 with one of the best opening weekends in Poland this year (195,615 viewers). Maiden Vows had an international premiere in USA on 17 October at the Copernicus Center om Chicago and opened in American cinemas on 20 October 2010.

Maiden Vows is an adaptation of an 18th Polish literary classic written by Aleksander Fredro. The plot evolves around two maidens, Aniela and Klara, who vow never to marry and torment men with their beauty. The suitors of both girls come up with a plan to change their minds.

The film is the biggest costume literature-based title produced in Poland since Jerzy Hoffman's With Fire And Sword (1999) and Andrzej Wajda's Revenge (2002). Maiden Vows is directed by Filip Bajon and produced by Studio Filmowe Kalejdoskop (www.kalejdoskop.art.pl). The budget of the film was 7 million PLN (1.7 million EUR) with 3 million PLN in financing from the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl). The film was shot between August and October 2009 in Podlasie, with a picturesque heritage park acting as the 18th century estate.
