Polish Eagles 2011 Nominations Announced

    WARSAW: Essential Killing, Johanna, Little Rose, and All That I Love led the nominations for the Polish Eagles. announced by the Polish Film Academy on 7 February 2011.

    {mosimage}Overall 15 titles have been nominated in 15 categories for the prestigious Polish Film Awards, the Eagles 2011 (www.pnf.pl). The Eagles have been awarded annually by the Polish Film Academy since 1999. The Polish Film Academy (www.pnf.pl), headed by Agnieszka Holland, has over 500 members and is a part of FAN (Film Academies Network of Europe).

    This year the members of the Academy chose their nominees from 32 titles, which had to be in Polish distribution for at least one week in 2010. The Polish Film Academy also nominated the best European films screened in Poland in 2010. A special retrospective of all the candidates took place between 10 and 31 January 2011 at the Kino Luna Artistic Center in Warsaw . All of the nominated Polish films received funding from the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl).

    The 13th celebratory gala of the Polish Eagles is planned for 7 of March 2011 in Warsaw. The winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award will be announced on 2 March 2011.
