FESTIVALS: Krakow Announces National Competition

    KRAKOW: The 51st Krakow Film Festival (23 - 29 May 2011, www.kff.com.pl) has announced 35 titles which will compete in the national competition. The winner will be awarded with the Golden Hobby-Horse.

    Feature documentaries will compete in the national competition for the first time. Two documentaries are also participating in the international competition: The Doctors by Tomasz Wolski, currently in post-production, and Phnom Penh Lullaby by Paweł Kloc, which has already been invited to festivals in Nyon, Sheffield, and Toronto. The selected feature films includes "Pomeranian Illusions" by Jacob Dammas and Helge Renner.

    Marcel Łoziński, a classic Polish documentary director, will present Tonia and Her Children. "This year we will have the opportunity not only to thank him for his regular presence at the Festival, but also to congratulate him on his birthday," said Festival Director Krzysztof Gierat.
