Polish British Spies of Warsaw Takes Center Stage at MIP

    CANNES: Spies of Warsaw, a coproduction between Polish public broadcaster TVP and the BBC Worldwide, was spotlighted as a case study for coproductions at MIP-TV. 

    Spies of Warsaw, based on Alan Furst's bestselling novel, was directed by Coky Giedroyc (SherlockThe Virgin Queen) and stars David Tennant, Janet Montgomery and Marcin Dorocinski. The story of French, German, Russian and Polish secret agents was seen by 3.6 million viewers on its 11 January 2013 premiere, making it the top rated show in Poland. It was filmed entirely in the country and produced by Richard Fell of Fresh Pictures and Dariusz Jabloński, CEO of Apple Film, which initated the cooperation between the broadcasters.

    Jabłoński was joined by Ben Donald, Executive Producer - International Drama, BBC Worldwide, and TVP’s Maciej Bernatt-Reszczynski for the presentation in Cannes.
