FNE at Berlinale 2015: Berlinale Prize Winners

    BERLIN: Directorial talent from central and eastern Europe and regional coproduction triumphed at the 65 Berlinale International Film Festival (5-15 February 2015) with the international jury awarding the Silver Bear for Best Director Ex Aequo to Romania’s Radu Jude for Afterim!, a Romanian, Bulgarian and Czech coproduction and Poland’s Malgorzata Szumowska for Body.

    Another regional coproduction, Under Electric Clouds a coproduction between Russia, Poland and Ukraine directed Alexei German Jr., scored the prize for Best Camera for its DoPs, Evgeniy Privin and Sergey Mikhalchuk, who shared the prize Ex Aequo with Germany’s Sturla Brandth Grøvlen for his camera in Victoria.

    Dariusz Jabłoński, the Polish coproducer of Under Electric Clouds said: ‘Together with Aleksey German Jr., we – Apple Film Production, Telewizja Polska S.A. and Tor Film Production – won this Silver Bear for the Polish audience, helping create the most important film about modern Russia.”

    The FNE FIPRESCI Critics ratings celebrated its second year at the Berlinale with 20 critics giving their stars to feature films in the main Competition, Panorama and Forum programmes. The top rating in the main Competition went to 45 Years (UK) directed by Andrew Haigh. Click HERE to see the final results.
