Czech, Bulgarian and Austrian Films Selected for San Sebastian New Directors Competition

    SAN SEBASTIAN: Family Film from the Czech Republic, Thirst from Bulgaria, and One of Us from Austria will compete for the Kutxabank-New Directors Award and a prize of 50,000 EUR at the 63rd San Sebastian IFF running 18-26 September 2015.

    Traditionally a meeting place for the Spanish/Latino film community, San Sebastian has expanded its coverage of films from the CEE region in the past few years, under the guidance of programmer and CEE expert Matthieu Darras.

    The films are among thirteen announced for the competition.

    Family Film is the second feature from Prague-based Slovenian director Olmo Omerzu. The film is a Czech/German/Slovene/French/Slovak coproduction from Endorfilm.The project is coproduced by Arsmedia (Slovenia), 42Film (Germany), Punkchart Films (Slovakia), Rouge International (France), Studio Dim (Croatia), and has been supported by the Eurimages fund. The film has also received support from the Czech State Cinematography Fund, the Slovak Audiovisual Fund, the Slovenian Film Center, MDM MitteldeutscheMedienförderung and the MEDIA Programme

    Thirst (Jajda) is the feature film directing debut from Bulgarian actress/producer Svetla Tsotsorkova. It was produced by Sofia-based Front Film with support from the Bulgarian National Film Center.

    One of Us is the feature length debut by writer/director Stephan Richter. It was produced by Golden Girls Filmproduktion & Filmservices.
