International Union of Cinemas Rejects Screening Room Project

By

BRUSSELS: International Union of Cinemas (UNIC), the European trade body representing cinema associations and key operators from across 36 territories, is expressing its great concern regarding the Screening Room proposal.

According to a press release, the model as outlined seems to offer little benefit to cinema operators and their distribution partners, while representing significant potential risks.

The Screening Room is envisaging that customers will pay a premium price of perhaps 44 EUR to watch a film at home from the point of its release in cinemas.
