COTTBUS: Nightlife / Nočno življenje by Damjan Kozole, who won the Best Director Award at the 51st Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, will be screened in the competition of the 26th Cottbus Film Festival, which runs 8-13 November 2016. The film is a Slovenian/Macedonian/Bosnian coproduction.
The action of the film takes place during a single night, when a high-profile attorney is found on the pavement along a main road. He is barely conscious, lying in a pool of blood and covered in dog bites. Doctors fight to keep him alive while his wife, in shock, confronts her deepest fears and the strength of her own moral standards.
The film stars well-known Slovenian actors Pia Zemljič (Marko Naberšnik's Rooster’s Breakfast produced by Arsmedia), Jernej Šugman and Marko Mandić (Vinko Möderndorfer's Inferno and Landscape No. 2, produced by Forum Ljubljana).
The film was produced by Danijel Hočevar through Vertigo, in coproduction with Macedonia’s Sisters and Brother Mitevski and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s SCCA/pro.ba. Coproducers are Labina Mitevska, Amra Bakšić Čamo and Adis Đapo. The budget was 1,160,000 EUR. The project was supported by the Slovenian Film Center with 582,000 EUR, the Macedonian Film Agency with 113,700 EUR, and Film Fund Sarajevo with 25,000 EUR, along with in-kind technical support provided by FS Viba.
The Cinemania Group is releasing the film in Slovenian cinemas in November 2016.
