    FNE at Venice 2017: FNE TV: This year Venice Film Festival became the first film festival to hold a competition for Virtual Reality films and VR even had its own island in the laguna, where VR fans and creators could meet to experience the latest in VR technologies and present their new projects.

    FNE spoke to Lithuanian director Andrius Lekavicius about why he chose VR for his new project.

    Classic films were an important part of this year’s Venice programme with Milos Forman’s Black Peter and Polish documentary The Prince and the Dybbuk about Polish director Michal Waszynski screening in Venice Classics. FNE spoke to the head of the Czech National Film Archives Michal Bregant about why festivals have fallen in love with restored classic films.

    FNE also spoke to Slovak director Mira Fornay about her new project Cook, Fuck, Kill and to Icelandic director Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurdsson, whose film Under the Tree screened in the Orizzonti section, about his experience coproducing with Poland.
