FNE at Connecting Cottbus: Inventory

By

COTTBUS: One of the many new initiatives at this year’s edition of Connecting Cottbus, 9 – 10 November 2017, was a pitching session of projects from the MIDPOINT Feature Launch programme. The projects selected to participate included the debut feature film Inventory by Slovenian producer Vlado Bulajic for his four-year-old company December and directed by Darko Sinko.

The film, which takes its inspiration from the classic thrillers of the 1950’s and 1960’s, is the story of a man who is unexpectedly shot at while he is having dinner at home. He begins to investigate the shooting, seeking to discover who among his family and friends might want him dead. His discoveries unnerve him, but the police assure him they found the real attacker. However, when the attacker is found to be innocent, the man is left again with his suspicions. Sinko called the project a black comedy with a touch of a thriller, with a “tragicomic aspect.”

The film, which has a budget of 900,000 EUR, has 35% of its funding in place with support from the Slovenian Film Center. The production will apply for funding through the public broadcaster RTVS's call for films for theatrical distribution by the end of 2017.

The film is in late development, with shooting planned for spring 2019 and the theatrical release planned for winter 2020.
