Ad market recovery predicted

The ad market in Central and Eastern Europe will return to a growth stage in 2010, according to a July 6 report released by ZenithOptimedia.

Following a 2008 total major media market of $35.2 billion in Central and Eastern Europe, 2009 is expected to see a 15% drop to $29.8 www.zenithoptimedia.com billion. However ZenithOptimedia (www.zenithoptimedia.com) forecasts a slight rise to $30.8 billion for 2010, and up to $33.8 billion in 2011 for the region. Recovery in Western Europe is not expected until late 2010 or 2011, and in North American recovery is not expected before 2011.

Internet advertising is the only media that is expected to sustain growth, forecast at 10.1% globally in 2009. The global TV market, by comparison, is expected to shrink by 7.1%
