The film will begin its international theatrical release in France with Pyramid Films (www.pyramidefilms.com) premiering it on December 16.
The film will be distributed in UK by Soda Pictures (www.sodapictures.com) next summer. Producers signed recently with Circo Film from Hungary and the Zagreb Film Festival (www.zagrebfilmfestival.com) from Croatia, but release dates are not yet set.
The Happiest Girl in the World received the C.I.C.A.E. (Confédération Internationale des Cinemas d'Art et d'Essai) Award at the Berlinale 2009, and participated in ACID (Agence du Cinéma Indépendant pour sa Diffusion) Programme at Cannes 2009. It was also awarded at Wiesbaden, Sofia, and IndieLisboa film festivals.
The film is a coproduction between the Romanian HiFilm (www.hifilm.ro) and Circe Films (www.circe.nl), with the support of the Romanian National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro), Romanian Television (www.tvr.ro) and Hubert Bals Fund (www.filmfestivalrotterdam.com).
