Katalin Varga win European Discovery Award

    Katalin Varga, a Hungarian/Romanian/UK co-production, won the European Film Academy's award as European Discovery 2009 on December 12.

    The film was directed by Peter Strickland and produced by Strickland along with Tudor Giurgiu and Oana Giurgiu.

    Polish director Andrzej Wajda was recognized with the European Film Academy Critics Award 2009 Prix FIPRESCI
    for Sweet Rush (Tatarak).
