Poland's Multikino moves into Lithuania

    Multikino, the second biggest Polish multiplex operator, will open its first foreign branch in Vilnius in the first half of 2010.

    The first Lithuanian Multikino will be located in the OZAS Gallery shopping mall in Vilnius and will contain 7 screening rooms with 1,673 seats, 500 of which will be in the biggest premiere room. All the rooms will be equipped with 2D and 3D projection systems.

    Multikino S.A (www.multikino.pl) merged with the Silver Screen chain in 2008. and owns 21 cinema multiplexes with 186 screens and 42,000 seats in the 15 biggest Polish cities.

    The cinema will open at the same time as the OZAS Gallery, a venture of the ECE Projektmanagement (www.ece.pl), which is a leading developer of city malls in Europe, managing 114 malls in Germany, Poland, Austria , Czech Republic, Russia, Grece, Turkey, Hungary and Lithuania.

    "It is a very important step in the development of our company. We plan to transfer to Lithuania our best solutions, which tested very well in the Polish market. We are not excluding further expansion of our presence abroad," said Piotr Zygo, the Chairman of the Multikino S.A. Board.
