EEFA Presents Projects in Berlin

    Romanian based East European Film Alliance has selected three film projects to be presented during the Berlinale, representing Georgia, Croatia, and Germany. The three projects were awarded in the final session of the EEFA Training Network 2010 during Black Nights Film Festival at Tallinn.

    The projects are 20 Steps Underground (Georgia), The Bridge (Croatia) and Keep the Fire (Germany). EEFA will provide the selected films with access to producers and distributors at the Berlinale.

    EEFA also awarded a documentary project in the final session of the EEFA Training Network 2010 during Black Nights Film Festival at Tallinn: I Worked for Radio Free Europe, from Bulgaria. EEFA will provide the same access at the Sunny Side of the Docs 2011.

    EEFA Training Network 2010 is a program developed for the second year with the support of MEDIA International and Romanian National Centre for Cinematography.

    20 STEPS FILM is an independent production company. It was founded in 2010 in Tbilisi, Georgia by producer - Vladimer Katcharava , director - Beso Solomanashvili , scriptwriter - Irakli Solomanashvili, Production Manager - Dali Narimanidze and editor/ project coordinator -Ekaterine Kartsivadze . The Company's goal is to develop the film industry in Georgia. It focuses on development and co-production of independent feature, documentary and animation films that will appeal both to domestic and international audiences. "20 Steps Film" provides production service in Georgia.

    Short synopsis

    Tbilisi, capital of Georgia. In the central avenue of the city two worlds, divided by 20 steps, exist in parallel. A protest rally is taking place on the top of the passage, meanwhile, underground, in the passage, hopeless people have found their shelter, living by dog-eat-dog rules and spend their days in the passage earning their living. They are terrorized by brute force. 11- year-old VASKA, son of a hooker, is the only one to try to overcome the 20 stone steps.

    SPIRITUS MOVENS

    The production company Spiritus Movens was established in 2006 by Zdenka Gold. The company is specialized in production of independent films as well as in festival production and cultural events organization. It gathers young authors and professionals by providing them the best possible conditions and expertise for production of artworks.

    In past few years, the company's focus was on film festivals, and since 2009 its focus has been shifting to the film production. At the moment we have Silvestar Kolbas's and Dubravka Manola's feature-length documentary '20 days on Tibet' in post-production, Marko Stanic's feature-length documentary '15YES 85NO' in production, Bobo Jelcic's feature film 'The Bridge' in pre-production and Marko Stanic's feature-length documentary ‘Mediterranean Trilogy" in development phase. Spiritus Movens is also providing a local production support for foreign production companies who want to shoot films in Croatia. In October 2010 we were local production support during preparations and two weeks shooting in Croatia for Dutch film Nick, directed by Fow Pyng Hu, produced by De Productie and IDTV Film.

    Short Synopsis

    Slavko is in doubt whether to go to his Muslim friend's funeral, 15 years after the war ended. He would like to stay inconspicuous, but the situation is making it impossible. The town is still divided in Muslim and Croatian part, and he is only trying to provide a decent life for his family. But, he decides to go because a friend is a friend, no matter the consequences...

    Short Synopsis

    Keep The Fire (working title) - A concept for an improvised feature. A Film about the art of "getting crazy" without losing your civil rights .This is the story of a group of international mixed people sitting all in the same airplane, ready to take off. The captain of the plane declares that he will not be able to fly tonight. Overall it's New Years Eve, afternoon. All passengers are trapped at the airport on an island-no alternative transportation can be provided. The people will have to spend the New Years Eve at the airport. The story focuses on 6 of them and will look at what they do with 24h taken or given...
