Golden Carpathian Market scores sales success

    BUCHAREST: Participants at the second edition of the Golden Carpathian (www.goldencarpathian.com) film market have scored a number of sales during the event which was held in Bucharest from 23 to 26 August 2012.

    Deals made during the market included the French Europe Images International (www.europeimages.com) which sold programs to the Russian channel First HDTV and also to the Croatian Media Acquisitions (www.media-acquisitions.com), while negociations with a Romanian TV channel are underway.

    The French Saudet Media sold an important package of 70 films to the Croatian Media Acquisitions. Eleven sellers participated in the market: Media Acquisitions (Croatia), K.I.P. International (Croatia), Europe Images International (France), MTVA (Hungary), Pana Film Distribution Company (Turkey), International Rising Establishment for Television Production (Jordan), Shanghai Media Group (China), First HDTV (Russia), Polsat Television (Poland), AKS TV Reklamcilik ve Filmcilik San.Ve Tic ASS Show TV (Turkey) and Imperial Distribution (Albania). The interest of the local industry was very poor.

    Radu Nicolae, the organiser of the Golden Carpathian told FNE that a plus was the number of the projects participating at the pitching forum and the number of the countries involved which was larger than last year.

    Many projects participating in the pitch forum came from Serbia. The company Bastards Production (www.bastardproduction.com) came with two features in development, Ivan Bukvić’s first feature Black Dog/ Crni and Vojin Vasovic's debut Kill Yourself for Me/ Ubi se za mene. Planned for shooting in autumn 2013, Black Dog is looking for coproducers in order to complete a 500,000 EUR budget, while Kill Yourself for Me, already has a coproducer, the Canadian To Blink Studio. It will be shot in November 2013 with a budget of 400,000 EUR.

    The other projects in the pitch forum came from Bosnia &Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, Netherlands, Palestine, Tunisia, Jordan, Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, England, Turkey, Croatia and Republic of Moldova.
