By

BUCHAREST: Dragoş Lumpan expects to complete an ambitious 90-minute documentary shot along a 45,000 km route in Albania, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Wales and Romania by early 2013.

Ultima transhumanţă/The Last Transhumance (www.transhumance.ro) is a complex project about sheep herders started by the photographer/DOP in 2007 as a result of his curiosity, love of cheese and the extinguishing of this ancestral occupation. Lumpan shot approximately 100 hours of film and took some 100,000 photos, which have been exhibited in Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Spain, Turkey, France and Romania, and published in an album. He was awarded the 3rd prize by the Central European Bank (www.ecb.int) at the Annual Photography Award – Romania for a selection from The Last Transhumance project.

Lumpan is the director, screenwriter and DOP of the film. Dana Bunescu and Alexandru Dumitrescu Florescu are editing. The shooting took place during the course of 28 trips between 2007-2008 and 2010-2012. Lumpan is producing through FotoCabinet Association (www.fotocabinet.ro), in coproduction with GAV (www.gav.ro). The film is supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute (www.icr.ro) and the National Cultural Fund Administration (www.afcn.ro).

Lumpan told FNE he is still looking for 20,000 EUR for postproduction and promotion of the total budget of 85,000 EUR.
