Romania Launching Balkan Channel

    BUCHAREST: The National Audiovisual Council of Romania approved licence for two new channels, the news channel Realitatea Plus and Black Sea TV.

    Realitatea Plus received a satellite licence in mid-January. It will broadcast in Romania and in the Republic of Moldova and the Western Balkan countries of Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Republic of Macedonia. The channel is run by Geopol International SRL with an investment of 13 million euro, according to Mediafax agency. The channel plans to open an office in Brussels. Realitatea Plus will air 60% original content on a 24/7 schedule.

    Black Sea TV, a local channel, will broadcast from Constanţa. The channel is run by S.C. Atelier Media SRL. It received an audiovisual licence on 29 January 2013.
