The script based on the short story by Irish writer Philip Ó Ceallaigh intertwines two love stories and four main characters, three of them becoming the creators of the fictional versions of their lives. The story is a reflection on the process of fashioning experience into narrative, which in turn affects experience, giving depth to the story. Damian and Ó Ceallaigh co-wrote the script.
Damian is producing through the Romanian company Aparte Film together with the Czech company Maur Film in coproduction with the Swedish companies Film i Väst and Filmgate, the Scottish company Faction North, and the Romanian companies Abis Studio and Sharf Studio.
A Very Unsettled Summer / O vară foarte instabilă is supported by the Romanian Ministry of Culture, Studio Video Art, The Czech State Fund for the Support and Development of Czech Cinematography and Goodyear, with the participation of the BBC, HBO Romania and DR Broadcasting. The budget is 886,888 EUR, Damian told FNE.
The cast includes Jamie Sives, Ana Ularu, Kim Bodnia, Diana Cavallioti and Teo Corban. Liviu Mărghidan is the DoP. The film has Romanian and English dialogue and was shot in Romania and the Czech Republic.
Postproduction will wrap at the end of summer 2013.
