A Farewell to Fools Sells Worldwide

    BUCHAREST: Shoreline Entertainment has sold A Farewell to Fools, the historical drama directed by Bogdan Dreyer starring Gérard Depardieu and Harvey Keitel, to eight territories.

    Cyprus/Turkey, Japan, China, Latin America, the Middle East/UAE, Australia/New Zealand, Great Britain and Scandinavia are all on board. Rights sold include theatrical, video, PPV, ancillary, free TV, Internet and VOD. Australia and New Zealand have bought all the rights, while China bought just pay TV and free TV rights. Latin America picked up PPV, pay TV and Internet rights.

    A Farewell to Fools/Condamnat la viaţă or Ipu – Convicted to Life is an English-language adaptation of the novel The Death of Ipu/Moartea lui Ipu by Titus Popovici, set in a Romanian village during the German occupation of WWII.

    The film is produced by Giuliano Doman through Film Location Guide in co-production with Germany's Daniel Zuta Filmproduktion and the Belgian company Minds Meet BVBA. An expensive production for Romania at 3 m EUR, the film was shot entirely in the country in 2011.
