Romania Triples Film Funding

By

BUCHAREST: The National Centre for Cinema will give out 6.7 m EUR/30m RON in the first session of the grants contest in 2013, which opened on 13 November, which is three times as much as in previous sessions.

Of that, 59% will go to feature film production, 15% to debut features production, 10% for documentary production, 10% for animated film production, 5% for short fiction film production, and 1% for development of feature films, debut features, documentaries and animated films.

The cap for a single producer is 15% of the grants allotted for production.

The only session of 2012 opened at the end of the year with results announced in April 2013 and distributed 2.3 m EUR/10.2 m RON. Despite a requirement of two grants sessions per year, because of lack of funding CNC has organised only one session per year since 2011.
