    BUCHAREST: Nicolas Cage, Anton Yelchin and Irene Jacob star Paul Schrader’s The Dying of the Light which will shoot at Castel Film Studios in Romania starting 27 January 2014.

    The film based on the script written by Paul Schrader is the existentialist journey of a CIA agent (Nicolas Cage) afflicted by blindness on his last mission before retirement. He is looking for a source in Romania who could lead him to an Arab terrorist. The cast also includes the Swedish Alexander Karim and Victor Webster. Romanian Gabriel Kossuth is the DoP.

    The entire film will be shot in Romania. Shooting will start on 27 January and will wrap in five weeks time. Postproduction will take place in the USA. This small budget film is produced by the independent Canadian company VVS Films with Castel Film Studios providing facilities, and Central Casting Romania providing casting for extras. Shooting will be half on location in Bucharest and half at Castel Studios.

    Paul Schrader, the writer of Taxi Driver and Raging Bull, is in Romania for the second time after the shooting of Adam Ressurected there in 2007. This is also the second project for Nicolas Cage in Romania after Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance shot at Castel Films between November 2010 and February 2011.
